Join us for our next installment of the Free Lecture Series. This month’s featured speaker is Richard Snyder, PhD Professor of Marine Science at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) talking about Shellfish Stories, specifically oysters!
Oysters, clams, mussels, and scallops have a rich cultural, economic, and scientific history in coastal Virginia, from the native Americans to modern aquaculture. Dr. Snyder, originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and now Director of the VIMS Wachapreague Lab, will pull together elements of this history into compelling stories centered on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Understanding the backstory of your seafood will perhaps add a deeper dimension of enjoyment and appreciation of these delectable critters.
